Café Federal

BAUX designs reduce the noise and ramp up the style.

When Café Federal opened up their latest café in Valencia, they wanted to make the most of a fantastic open interior space. Large street level windows and high ceilings are an obvious plus for any café space, but they also bring challenges. Mindful that noise levels could easily detract from the customer experience, the design team placed BAUX wood wool panels on a wall in the center of the space to dampen sound reflections and create something unique.

Café Federal had used acoustic panels before, mainly on the ceilings because they wanted them to disappear. The BAUX design offered something different – a focal point that breaks up sound at speaking height, helping to control volume around the central counter where there’s most movement. The BAUX design also set them apart from everyone else. Natural wood textures, combined in pinks and reds, created a fresh contrast within the space.

“Things get bumped, scratched and moved in a café all day. Noise levels are high as customers chat and move around. We needed something that was durable, stylish and would help reduce the background hum to enhance the customer experience. The BAUX design ended up being the one element that had the most impact on the space.”
