Design: Form Us With Love

The 100% bio-based BAUX Acoustic Pulp panel is the first in the world to uncompromisingly combine the high-performance properties of sound absorption, design and sustainability.

Over the past century, fossil based materials have become the norm for acoustical products. It’s time for a new kind of material. One that breaks the mold and revolutionises sustainability in acoustical products.
It’s nothing short of an acoustic revolution.

The Ingredients

Harmless for us.
Harmless for nature.
Zero chemicals.
Only natural ingredients.

Cellulose
Cellulose from sustainably harvested Swedish and FSC controlled fir and pine trees.
Water
In production, the water is being recycled back into the factory’s closed circular system to be reused again in the next batch.
Wheat
Non-GMO wheat bran. Adding paint would have compromised our vision of creating a 100%-bio-based product. Instead, color is achieved wheat bran.
Potato Starch
For strength, we utilized a naturally catalytic combination of potato starch extracted from potatoes. The cells of the root tubers of the potato plant contain leucoplasts making it ideal for strength.
Wax
Plant-derived wax is used to further increase fire protection in the product.
Citrus fruits
For strength, we utilised a naturally catalytic combination of potato starch, plant-based wax and citrus fruit acids from lemons, limes, and oranges to provoke the cellulosic molecules into creating a powerful matrix of intermolecular fusions.
FEATURES AND BENEFITS

BAUX Acoustic Pulp drastically pushes the boundaries of cellulosic properties to a completely new level.

Superior Sound Absorption

To achieve extra sound absorption and durability, while maintaining a lightweight product with minimal material usage, we borrowed the hexagonal honeycomb structure originally invented by bees and popularly used by the aerospace industry.

Patterns inspired by paper

We started by folding paper. For weeks, we played with a multitude of different origami and architecture-inspired lines and shapes until we discovered a series of simple patterns that both matched our aesthetic and provided acoustical benefits.

Colour derived from wheat

Adding paint would have compromised our vision of creating a 100% bio-based product. Instead, with BAUX Acoustic Pulp, the colour is achieved using 5% percent of wheat bran. With the three origami patterns, you can combine endless possibilities for harmonizing with different space designs. The final effect is an organic expression of character and colour, without any chemicals at all.
